The Role
Reporting to the Vice President Ecosystem Development, the successful candidate will support with winning new sponsors for the communities around the various open source technologies and initiatives hosted at the Eclipse Foundation.
You will be responsible for securing sponsors for Eclipse Foundation events and initiatives, including those led by working groups, and for driving related sponsorship activities throughout the year. In this role, you will serve as the key liaison between the Ecosystem Development team and cross-functional teams such as Marketing, Events, and Program Management.
Additionally, you will help define, build, and maintain the processes and tooling (e.g., HubSpot) used by the Ecosystem Development team and adjacent functions.

The Role

Responsibilities
- Proactively identify, engage, and secure new sponsors for a diverse range of Eclipse Foundation events and strategic initiatives.
- Act as the dedicated point of contact for all sponsors, ensuring their needs are met, and their partnership is maximized.
- Nurture, maintain, and strategically grow the network of existing sponsors, identifying opportunities for expanded engagement and long-term partnerships.
- Work with the Marketing team and subject matter experts to develop sales enablement collateral that supports sponsorship outreach, including one-pagers, decks, and campaign assets.
- Use HubSpot to manage and organize leads, track sponsor activity, and maintain up-to-date pipeline data and reporting.
- Become a subject matter expert on Eclipse Foundation working groups, key initiatives, and the broader open source ecosystem to better advise and support prospects and sponsors.
- Collaborate closely with the Events team to clearly define, articulate, and enhance the value proposition for sponsors, ensuring their investment yields measurable returns and aligning sponsorship packages with their objectives.
- Interface seamlessly with the Marketing, Events, and Program Management teams to ensure cohesive execution of all ecosystem development and sponsorship activities, including, when appropriate, attending events to manage sponsor relations.
- Support the development of new sponsorship opportunities across events, working groups, research, and content initiatives by providing input, feedback, and helping identify scalable ways to deliver value to ecosystem members.
- Contribute to the ongoing definition, building, and maintenance of optimized processes within the Ecosystem Development team, particularly leveraging tools like HubSpot to streamline lead management, sponsor tracking, and community engagement workflows.
- Efficiently triage and respond to inbound interest, either scheduling discovery calls or routing inquiries to the appropriate Ecosystem Development team member.
- Clearly articulate and communicate the offerings, value proposition, and benefits of joining or collaborating with the Eclipse Foundation to all interested parties, fostering early engagement.
Qualifications
Required
- Minimum of 5 - 7 years of relevant technical sales experience
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English; fluency in another language such as German or French is preferred
- Ability to clearly and concisely convey complex information
- Strong sense of ownership for leads, with minimal support required to succeed
- Good understanding of one or more IT domains such as embedded systems, cloud computing, or artificial intelligence
- Desire to work in a creative, interesting, and fast-moving international environment that values initiative and perseverance
- Ability to manage your own time effectively and responsibly and involve others when required
- Ability to work in a highly collaborative and distributed team
Preferred

- A solid understanding of open source ecosystems and principles
- Experience managing sponsorship activities for various initiatives
- Familiarity with emerging technologies and their potential for community development
Education
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in business, computer science or related field is preferred but not mandatory
Location of Position
- All Eclipse Foundation staff work remotely. The successful candidate should be based in either Europe or North America
